How a Project Works
01 It starts with a conversation
A call, then a discovery session in your space. You'll fill out a questionnaire about how the space needs to work and feel, and we walk the rooms together to review the site and set priorities. By the end, we both know whether it's a fit — and where the design is headed.
02 The design takes shape
We develop a cohesive concept and space plan, bringing together layout, materials, finishes, furnishings, and lighting around how you live and how the space should feel. The design is refined into a complete plan and presented for your review. When construction is involved, we collaborate with your contractor early to ensure the design is practical and clearly communicated before work begins.
03 We see it through install
We coordinate with vendors, makers, installers, and contractors when applicable; place and track approved orders; and lead final installation and styling—protecting the design through the last details.

Riserva works across residential and hospitality interiors. Residential projects may range from one fully considered room to a whole home and can include furnishings-led spaces, renovations, guest retreats, and homes designed around gathering.
Hospitality and community projects include wineries, tasting rooms, boutique hotels, restaurants, co-working studios, and other experience-led places of welcome.
The studio is best suited to projects where multiple design decisions need to work together and the client wants a cohesive result carried from concept through installation.

Yes. Riserva accepts select single-room projects for bedrooms, living and dining rooms, home offices, guest spaces, and other furnishings-led interiors.
These projects follow the same full-service process as larger engagements, including concept development, sourcing, procurement, and final styling. Riserva does not currently offer sourcing-only or shopping-list services.

Not at all. Part of Riserva’s role is to uncover what feels meaningful to you and translate it into a clear design direction.
You may be asked about places, objects, memories, or experiences you respond to rather than being asked to choose a style label. Inspiration is always welcome, but the goal is not to reproduce a collection of reference images. It is to understand what draws you to them and create something distinctly suited to you and your space.

As early as possible. For furnishings-led projects, that means before purchasing major pieces or making isolated decisions that will shape the rest of the room.
For renovations, new construction, or projects involving architectural changes, Riserva should ideally be involved before plans are finalized, construction is priced, or major materials are selected.
Early involvement allows the layout, materials, lighting, furnishings, and architectural details—when applicable—to be considered as one cohesive design.

Timing depends on the scope of the space, the amount of customization, product lead times, and whether construction is involved.
A furnishings-led single room may take approximately three to six months from the beginning of design through installation. Renovations, whole homes, and hospitality projects commonly require six months to a year or longer.
Thoughtful spaces take time. A clear schedule is established for every engagement so that design development, decisions, procurement, and installation can move forward with care.

You will participate at key moments through discovery, design presentations, and clearly defined approvals. You will not be expected to manage the design, review endless options, or make decisions without guidance.

Design ideas are developed through research, exploration, and synthesis before they are presented. Rather than sharing every unfinished thought, Riserva brings forward a considered direction with the context and rationale needed to evaluate it meaningfully.
Feedback is gathered at defined review points and consolidated before revisions begin. This allows the design to evolve thoughtfully while protecting its overall coherence.

Inspiration can be helpful when it reveals something about the atmosphere, materiality, or experience you are drawn to. Riserva will look for the underlying qualities in those references rather than treating them as a shopping list.
Because the studio is responsible for creating a cohesive design, product sourcing is led by Riserva. Parallel sourcing or independently selecting alternatives can fragment the process and compromise decisions that were made in relationship to the room as a whole.

Yes. Existing pieces can bring history, character, and personal meaning to a space. During discovery, Riserva will review anything you hope to keep and determine how it can be integrated into the larger design.
Not every item will necessarily support the final direction, but pieces with significance will always be considered thoughtfully.

Communication is organized around scheduled design reviews, documented decisions, and consolidated project updates. Email and the designated project platform are used for design communication so that information remains clear and accessible.

Bringing the Design to Life

Each professional has a distinct role. An architect is generally responsible for the building’s architecture and code-related documentation. A contractor determines how the work will be built and is responsible for construction pricing, scheduling, permitting, site supervision, safety, and construction methods.
Riserva leads the interior design: concept, spatial experience, materials, fixtures, furnishings, lighting, and the details that create a cohesive environment. On collaborative projects, these disciplines work together while remaining accountable for their respective areas of expertise.

Riserva collaborates with architects, contractors, consultants, vendors, and makers to communicate the design intent and resolve design-related questions as the project develops.
The contractor remains responsible for construction management and execution. Riserva’s role is to protect the design through documentation, communication, site observation, and thoughtful responses when field conditions affect the approved direction.

Yes. Designer-managed procurement is an integral part of Riserva’s full-service process. Once selections and pricing are approved, Riserva places and tracks orders, communicates with vendors, verifies specifications, and addresses damages or discrepancies.
This continuity allows the studio to carry the design from presentation into the finished space with clarity and accountability.

Each item is chosen as part of a cohesive whole. By managing all orders, Riserva can verify specifications, coordinate deliveries, resolve issues, and protect the finished design.
For this reason, all designer-specified furnishings, fixtures, and materials within Riserva’s scope are purchased through the studio rather than ordered directly by the client.

Product availability and lead times can change, even with careful planning. When an issue arises, Riserva evaluates its effect on the design, schedule, and investment before recommending a solution.
Damages and vendor discrepancies are addressed through the procurement process. If a replacement or substitution is necessary, Riserva sources and presents an option that supports the approved design rather than asking the client to troubleshoot it independently.
